Laptops in Meetings ~ Do you get it?

I’m not sure if you’ve come across this, but this is starting to become pretty annoying. It seems that the more we become connected, the more we are reluctant to unhook ourselves and this is epidemic is growing esp. in large organisations. So let’s get to the bottom of this annoyance. (Excuse, the photo - it was the best, crazy over the top photo i could find - if you have better post a link)

Getting Noticed..

Well, we have some good news.

Our little Blog has in the matter of a week gone from 8,911,336 place to 3,939,045 in a field that is expanding at a rate of 120,000 blogs per day (according to the technorati’s qtr weblog review). We are wrapped with this and we want to keep on sharing the good news with you as we go. As a little present, in addition to the little gems of management wisdom, here is an interesting little graph below shows the state of the Blogosphere in the last few years and more importantly indicating its maturing as an influential part of the web.

Innovate or crash

Many organisations have “Innovation” as one of its key corporate values, yet how often is this reflected in the company culture and in the minds of individual employees in a constrained system.

Recent discussion in Australia on innovation shows that Australian business rank quite poorly in the innovation stakes. Given this, it is possible to theorise that the current economic conditions and existing corporate cultures and systems could be contributing to this issue.

If you take a look at the Gen Xer’s and Gen Y’s (those born between 1961-1981 and 1982-1995 respectively), there is a tendency more notably among the Gen y fraternity to move through various organisations over a short period of time. So what’s driving this move and how is innovation affected?

My Boss is now in the Managment Hall of Fame

Perhaps yours is in there aswell!

My boss recently pitched my work to win a major account that added another $10M to our balance sheets. Whats worst, is that the intellectual property (IP) that i developed during the lead up has been filed under his name. What a prick hey, but talking to my IP lawyer stealing kudos is pretty typical - “one of the perks of being the boss!”

Ok, so i come up with good idea - boss does me over and lawyer sees it as water under the bridge. I understand the terms of my employment where all your IP is farmed off to the employer - but it really suxs to have someone take the kudos on you sweat.

So i wanted to know if you have had this happen to you, your colleagues and friends.

How badly has your boss done you over?
